Quanto mi piacciono le foto vintage! I fotografi di allora, quelli che immortalavano le dive del cinema muto, avevano una chiara formazione pittorica, dal momento che la fotografia era all'epoca un'arte relativamente nuova e non aveva ancora sviluppato un linguaggio proprio. Alcune di queste foto sembrano quasi quadri rinascimentali! Trovo che gli acquerelli siano perfetti per trasformarle in illustrazioni dolci e armoniose. Questa illustrazione è ispirata ad una bellissima foto dell'attrice Ethel Clayton.

Parlando di acquerelli, finalmente ho finito le illustrazioni per la seconda edizione del libro "Emozioni veneziane" di Anna Castelli.  Godetevi questa piccola anteprima! Si tratta del bassorilievo all'ingresso della Corte Morosini, a Venezia, uno dei luoghi in cui si svolgono le vicende del libro.

Looking for ONE artist to do an 8-page job. Unfortunately Emanuela Lupacchino, who was to draw the 8 final pages, is no longer available.

Requirements:

• Able to read and write English.
• Has a quite realistic/U.S. superheroes style. No cartoons or manga styles for this project. Maybe next time. ^_-
• Able to draw athletic men with good anathomy.
• Able to draw nice and beautiful girls (not oversexualized dolls).
• Able to read a script and compose a full page of sequential art.
• Able to prepare the final page in hi-res format with clear linearts and closed areas, ready for easier coloring job.
• Able to write good, clear e-mails and to answer at least in 2 days when urgent stuff comes up.
• Able to show us via e-mail the work in progress at different stages: layouts, pencils, inks...
• ...and able to withstand costructive criticism and make corrections when required at any stage.

BEWARE: if you don't have some comic pages done to show us, you'll be required to do one. But I think that, if you're able to do all of the above, you'll have some DOZENS to show! ^_-

NOT a requirement:

• photorealism (we want art, not photos with your art over it)
• coloring

Is that too much? I don't think so, I know there's A LOT of good people out there!. ^_-


The artist will have his/her work printed on the very first Bluejaye issue, and will recieve 30 US$ per page when the job's done: if PayPal is ok for you, then we don't care where you live. U.S.A. and European Union citizens will probably have no problems even without PayPal, we'll figure a way).

E questi sono i colori piatti. Ho cercato di inchiostrare in uno stile Art Nouveau, mi piace giocare con lo spessore della linea e forse anzi dovrei provare a osare di più. Il blu dei capelli mi piace (ovviamente... ho una passione per i capelli blu, se non si fosse capito!) ma credo non armonizzi bene con il resto. Credo che dovrà cambiare... Da notare come inizialmente non sapessi cosa far galleggiare tra le mani, e infine ho scelto un coniglio! I coniglietti ormai sono la mia passione... già da tempo sono diventati due, e presto andranno a vivere insieme! Per ora si danno solo i bacini attraverso le sbarre del recinto e sono davvero teneri. Ma lui ha ancora le sue prugnette pelose (lei è già sterilizzata invece) e dovrà aspettare ancora un po'...






In questo lungo tempo in cui non ho postato naturalmente non sono stata con le mani in mano, ma ho lavorato alacremente su Bluejaye. Sono soltanto a pagina 10... sono la colorista più lenta che conosco, accidenti! Eccovi un assaggino da pagina 9. Disegni di Jomar Bulda.

Yattaaa! è una mailing list che si occupa di fumetto al femminile, ossia disegnato da donne oppure con protagoniste donne. La mailing list ha recentemente compiuto cinque anni e ha chiesto ai suoi lettori che siano anche disegnatori o sceneggiatori un omaggio attinente per festeggiare. Sono felice e orgogliosa di aver partecipato, assieme alle bravissime ragazze di Eden Studio (Francesca Da Sacco, Michela Da Sacco e Manuela Soriani) e Mattia Bulgarelli. Mattia ha scritto il racconto che accompagna le immagini, mentre io ho colorato i disegni di Manuela e Michela.

Yattaaa! is a mailing list about women in comics, which means both comics drawn by women and with women as protagonists (if you are not Italian, however, you may not be familiar with the characters you'll see when you open the link). The mailing list has recently celebrated its fifth birthday, and its staff has asked to those of the readers who are also storywriters and comic artistis for a hommage. I'm happy and proud having taken part in it, together with the amazing girls of Eden Studio (Francesca Da Sacco, Michela Da Sacco and Manuela Soriani) and Mattia Bulgarelli. Mattia wrote the tale that accompanies the illustrations, while I colored Manuela's and Michela's drawings.

Quinto anniversario di Yattaaa!

Ancora devo pubblicare quello su cui stavo lavorando qualche giorno fa, che già mi do da fare con qualcos'altro. Il che è un bene... Intanto vi regalo un'altra delle mie foto di fiorellini.

Eccovi una piccola anteprima della copertina del libro Emozioni veneziane
di Anna Castelli, che orgogliosamente ho illustrato. Perdonate la bassa qualità, ma chi vorrà vedere l'illustrazione in tutta la sua gloria non avrà che da aspettare e acquistare il libro. ;-) E a parte questo, il mio scanner è un multifunzione, ossia uno di quegli apparecchi che fanno un sacco di cose senza farne davvero bene nemmeno una.

Ah, e ho deciso di inventare una nuova malattia psicoloGGica dell'artista: la sindrome di Mirka. Ossia quando un artista è incapace di apprezzare il suo stesso lavoro anche quando tutti gli dicono che è bello. Perché a me questa tavola ha fatto disperare, mi sembra ultrapiatta e con la testa enorme. Con la differenza che Mirka è brava DAVVERO.

Oh, and I decided to invent a new artist's disease: the Mirka syndrome. Which is, when an artist can't appreciate his/her own work, even when everybody around them tells them it's pretty. Because this illustration made me desperate. I think it looks totally flat, and she's got a giant head.
The difference with me is, Mirka draws REALLY well.

Guardate cosa ha fatto la mia amica Anna (quella che mi ha commissionato il disegno originale per la maglietta)! Non sono stupende?!
È fuori come un balcone, ne ha fatte stampare CENTO! E quindi dopo averne date un bel po' al suo amico e tenute parecchie altre per sé ne avanzano ancora e ha promesso che me le spedirà. È la prima volta che una commissione mi viene pagata in caffè di torrefazione e spillette... XD
Qualcuno ne vuole una? Anzi, siccome costano pochissimo, qualcuno vuol farne stampare un po' coi miei disegni? :DDDDDDD

She's completely crazy, she printed A HUNDRED of them! So after giving many to her friend and keeping many more for herself, she'll still have a lot left over and she promised she will send them to me. It's the first time than one of my commissione gets paid with Venetian roasted coffee and pins... XD
Does anybody want one? They come at an amazingly low price, so you could order pins with a design of mine that you like, if you want to. :DDDDDDD

It's a commission that will be printed on a gift T-shirt. This commission will be paid with coffee from a Venetian coffee shop, which I cannot find where I live. XD
