Tutto è più bello coi coniglietti!
I colori e i disegni del kimono sono stati ispirati da delle stampe di Hokusai, "Toeletta d'estate" e alcune tra le molte figure di donne allo specchio da lui dipinte.
Molti anni fa, un'amica aveva creato per prima questo tipo di illustrazione, ma nel suo caso si trattava di una mamma gatta. Ho dovuto provare la mia versione con una mamma coniglia! <3

Kimono colors and patterns were inspired by prints from Hokusai, both of them called "Woman looking in the mirror" (he painted several of those).
The concept of this illustration was first developed by a friend of mine many years ago (9 at least), but in her case it was a cat. I just had to try my own rabbit version.<3

Quest'anno, per lo zodiaco cinese, sarà l'anno del Coniglio. Non credo nell'astrologia né negli oroscopi, ma per i coniglietti ogni scusa è buona! Enjoy! ;-)

Lo scorso weekend ho avuto la fortuna di partecipare al laboratorio di acquerello ad Aachen (nota in italiano come Aquisgrana e in francese come Aix-la-Chapelle) con Jenny Dolfen, nota su DeviantArt come GoldSeven. Adoro lo stile dei suoi lavori e il suo modo di usare l'acquerello, leggermente differente da quello classico, ma molto efficace per le illustrazioni - in particolar modo per il fantasy.
Ho messo in pratica le sue tecniche e i suoi consigli, e il risultato è questo.
Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend a watercolor workshop in Aachen (known in Italy as Aquisgrana and in France as Aix-la-Chapelle) held by Jenny Dolfen, known on DeviantArt as GoldSeven. I love the style of her works and her way to use watercolors, slightly different from what is classically taught but very effective for illustration, especially fantasy illustration.
I tried to put into practice her techniques and advice, and here is the result.
Originariamente doveva essere una sorta di donna-lupo, ma la forma degli occhi e delle orecchie ha finito per risultare molto più felina che lupesca. Devo riprovarci con delle foto di riferimento!
Desidero ringraziare ancora Jenny e gli altri partecipanti al workshop - oltre naturalmente al mio ragazzo, che mi ha accompagnata nel viaggio - per questo bel weekend e per le cose che ho imparato e che spero di poter mettere ancora di più a frutto. Grazie!

Originally she was supposed to be some kind of wolf girl, but the shape of the ears and eyes in the end resulted so much more cat-like than wolf.like. I need to try again using references!
I wish to once more thank Jenny and the other participants to the workshop - including my boyfriend, who accompanied me in the trip - for this nice and fun weekend and for the things that I learned, which I hope to put to use even more very soon. Thank you!
