Pavone rosa
Pavone rosa

When I say I've more talent for illustration than for comics, there is a reason. Going to see an exibition of Michelangelo's drawings played its part, too.
I made this last Friday after dreaming that there was a pink peacock following me everywhere and eating from my neckline because there was corn in it.

Ancora un po' di pazienza...
Sevilla 08

Tentativi fatti in qualsiasi altro modo danno risultati mediocri.

A picture taken in Sevilla last September. I always loved it very much.
I'm recovering my will to draw after I realized a thing of fundamental importance. I need to have fun while I draw. Any other kind of effort will reward me with only mediocre results.

Mi sento in crisi
Tulipano giallo e rosso

Help...

I have said this before, but now it's official and admitting it will hopefully be the first step to finding a solution.
I've always been drawing. I've always been quite gifted. But there always was something "more important" to take care of at that moment.
When you are like me, drawing sort of torments you constantly. It may happen that you feel shaken for a while and momentarily stop, but then as soon as you feel better drawing is there again, pulling at you.
The day comes that you look around you, and realize that drawing as a hobby is no longer enough for you. And when you do, you see that in the meanwhile all those who had clearer ideas than you had have been working hard, and are long past that level.
Now, I'm not a translator as I wanted to be while I was studying at the University. My degree alone couldn't make me become one, and the last step needed - studying the language in its country of origin and passing a proficiency test - requires money that I don't have, and a motivation that has fled, possibly because of the knowledge of not having enough money.
And I'm not an artist. There are self-taught people who can, with their forces alone, reach a professional level such that they are published regularly by a serious publisher. I am not like that. I need to be taught, to be constantly followed and motivated, to be told at least where to start from and in which order to go. Nude drawing lessons helped me a great deal, but it was obvious they would no longer suffice.
Envying artists that are professionals at ten years younger than I am is not precisely encouraging to me. I often wonder whether it's really worth it to torment myself like this.
Going to a school is an option, but it's a difficult one. I don't know this country's language, and I've been refused by several people already for this sole reason. But if I went back to Italy to find only a precarious, badly-payed job, like too many people I know, what would I pay the school with?
So I'm in a big crisis. Nothing I draw lately looks good to me, and so the will to draw flees. I feel demotivated and inadequate. Help...

The coveted Breese Award is given to six inspirational individuals; since most blog awards cater to odd numbers, this particular award was designed for the more even keeled folk. These six should be a collection of bloggers that have helped you, either directly or indirectly, to stay creative.

Speaking of different things, I have received, and I gladly accept, an award from Brian Lue Sang.
From Peter Breese's blog:

The coveted Breese Award is given to six inspirational individuals; since most blog awards cater to odd numbers, this particular award was designed for the more even keeled folk. These six should be a collection of bloggers that have helped you, either directly or indirectly, to stay creative.

Now I should choose six people who helped me stay creative, and award them. But there are more than that. Check out my links and you will find many examples...

Sea Of Yellow
Sea Of Yellow

The drawing slump continues, so I'm posting a picture I took with the fabulous reflex my boyfriend gave me as a gift. I opened a Flickr account, or better I remembered I have had one for months and I was not using it...
