Sto facendo il corso avanzato di colore da Comics Experience, e dal momento che per gli esercizi ho usato una pagina dallo stesso albo da cui avevo fatto delle prove per la Marvel tempo fa, ho pensato di proporvele insieme anche se gli stili sono leggermente diversi. La prima è quella più recente, le altre due hanno circa 4-5 mesi. Divertitevi a fare qualche critica, mi piacciono molto! ;)

I'm back at Comics Experience for the advanced comic coloring course, and for my homework I picked a page from the same Hulk book that I made a couple pages from a while ago. They were supposed to be Marvel tryout pages but I have no idea whethere they were reviewed or not...
The styles are a bit different because the first page is recent, while the other two (one is actually a splash page) are 4-5 months old. Please enjoy and leave some critique, I love critiques! ;)

Here is episode 21 of Aronauta, which I colored some time ago. I don't know who the penciler is, I'll update the page as soon as I know.

Questo è il disegno con cui ho contribuito all'iniziativa Haiku 4 Happiness. Anche se non è particolarmente originale, ho voluto unire elementi della tradizione figurativa giapponese che significassero fortuna, prosperità, preghiera per un futuro di rinascita, e resistenza alle difficoltà.

Spiegazioncina!
Carpa che nuota contro corrente: forza, coraggio, determinazione, capacità di superare le difficoltà della vita.
Maneki neko color calico: il più fortunato dei colori che possa avere un gatto!
Zampa destra alzata: Prosperità, fortuna.
Collare rosso con sonaglio: Prosperità.
Ema (tavoletta shintoista da preghiera che il gatto tiene nella zampa, su cui si può scrivere un desiderio): i kanji si leggono fukkatsu e vuol dire 'resurrezione' o 'rinascita'.
La scritta nera si legge (in verticale da destra a sinistra) Ganbare nippon! e significa 'Forza, Giappone!'

This is the illustration I made to contribute to the Haiku 4 Happiness initiative. It is not the most original that was ever seen, but I wanted to use elements from Japan's figurative tradition to simbolize good luck, wealthiness, a prayer for a future of rebirth, and the capacity to stand up to difficulties.

Brief explanation! 
Carp swimming upstream: symbolizes strength, courage, determination, and the capacity to beat difficulties in life.
Three-colored maneki neko: traditionally the luckiest color for a cat. 
Right paw up: inviting money and good fortune.
Red collar with bell: wealthiness.
Ema (Shinto prayer tablet where one can express a written wish): the kanji on it read fukkatsu and mean 'resurrection' or 'rebirth'.
The characters in black read Ganbare Nippon! and mean 'Be strong, Japan!'

Tutto è più bello coi coniglietti!
I colori e i disegni del kimono sono stati ispirati da delle stampe di Hokusai, "Toeletta d'estate" e alcune tra le molte figure di donne allo specchio da lui dipinte.
Molti anni fa, un'amica aveva creato per prima questo tipo di illustrazione, ma nel suo caso si trattava di una mamma gatta. Ho dovuto provare la mia versione con una mamma coniglia! <3

Looking for ONE artist to do an 8-page job. Unfortunately Emanuela Lupacchino, who was to draw the 8 final pages, is no longer available.

Requirements:

• Able to read and write English.
• Has a quite realistic/U.S. superheroes style. No cartoons or manga styles for this project. Maybe next time. ^_-
• Able to draw athletic men with good anathomy.
• Able to draw nice and beautiful girls (not oversexualized dolls).
• Able to read a script and compose a full page of sequential art.
• Able to prepare the final page in hi-res format with clear linearts and closed areas, ready for easier coloring job.
• Able to write good, clear e-mails and to answer at least in 2 days when urgent stuff comes up.
• Able to show us via e-mail the work in progress at different stages: layouts, pencils, inks...
• ...and able to withstand costructive criticism and make corrections when required at any stage.

BEWARE: if you don't have some comic pages done to show us, you'll be required to do one. But I think that, if you're able to do all of the above, you'll have some DOZENS to show! ^_-

NOT a requirement:

• photorealism (we want art, not photos with your art over it)
• coloring

Is that too much? I don't think so, I know there's A LOT of good people out there!. ^_-


The artist will have his/her work printed on the very first Bluejaye issue, and will recieve 30 US$ per page when the job's done: if PayPal is ok for you, then we don't care where you live. U.S.A. and European Union citizens will probably have no problems even without PayPal, we'll figure a way).

Gabe & Mattia will be the ONLY ones to tell who the chosen artist will be.

Qualche settimana fa ho avuto la fortuna di scoprire - più o meno per caso - il sito Comics Experience e soprattutto i loro corsi online. Ho così deciso di fare il corso di colorazione base, e l'ho trovato davvero ottimo.
A insegnare è Chris Sotomayor, colorista Marvel, e c'è la possibilità di vedere le proprie tavole corrette settimana dopo settimana davanti a te. Durante l'ultima lezione è intervenuto Alex Sinclair, noto soprattutto per il suo lavoro su Batman.
Ho imparato moltissimo, mi sono divertita e spero che si noti tramite i miglioramenti.
Unico lato negativo, le lezioni iniziavano alle 21 Eastern Standard Time visto che venivano trasmesse da New York. Le tre del mattino non sono precisamente un orario che favorisce la concentrazione!

Teacher is Chris Sotomayor, colorist for Marvel, and one can see his pages being critiqued and corrected before his eyes week after week, which is enormously useful towards learning. The last lesson saw Alex Sinclair of Batman fame joining us.
I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and I hope the results show through my progress. 
Only setback is, lessons started at 9pm EST as they were being broadcast from New York. 3am is not quite the best time to favor concentration!

Queste sono le matite...







E questi sono i colori piatti. Ho cercato di inchiostrare in uno stile Art Nouveau, mi piace giocare con lo spessore della linea e forse anzi dovrei provare a osare di più. Il blu dei capelli mi piace (ovviamente... ho una passione per i capelli blu, se non si fosse capito!) ma credo non armonizzi bene con il resto. Credo che dovrà cambiare... Da notare come inizialmente non sapessi cosa far galleggiare tra le mani, e infine ho scelto un coniglio! I coniglietti ormai sono la mia passione... già da tempo sono diventati due, e presto andranno a vivere insieme! Per ora si danno solo i bacini attraverso le sbarre del recinto e sono davvero teneri. Ma lui ha ancora le sue prugnette pelose (lei è già sterilizzata invece) e dovrà aspettare ancora un po'...






In questo lungo tempo in cui non ho postato naturalmente non sono stata con le mani in mano, ma ho lavorato alacremente su Bluejaye. Sono soltanto a pagina 10... sono la colorista più lenta che conosco, accidenti! Eccovi un assaggino da pagina 9. Disegni di Jomar Bulda.

COMIC ARTIST WANTED 8 pages - 30$ per Page.

Ho tirato fuori dall'armadio digitale (leggi: disco esterno) questa vecchia line art (anatomicamente non proprio corretta...) per sperimentare con un paio di tecniche di colorazione spiegate qui e qui.
Le critiche costruttive sono le benvenute, anzi vi chiedo di lasciarne qualcuna se potete. Cento punti extra per chi mi corregge l'anatomia! <3
Il disegno è ispirato a una foto della brava Carolina Kostner.

I pulled out of the closet (my external hard disk drive) this old (and anatomically less than perfect) line art to experiment with a couple of coloring techniques found here and here.
Constructive critiques are welcome, or should I say requested. Bonus points for those who will help me correct the anatomy. <3
