Signorina liberty con il super scanner nuovo *_*
Donna liberty 02

Since lately I can't draw anything that suits my taste, I leave you with a picture from a while ago. And since I have a brand new Canon scanner that was delivered today, I couldn't but flaunt it. *_*
I forgot to erase the Fabriano logo (an Italian brand of drawing paper) but who cares.

I'm in love with vintage photographs.
Actually, this is the re-interpreted portrait of Lucienne Herval, an actress from the 30's - probably French - about whom I couldn't find much information. On Lorivintage55stock on deviantART you will find tens and tens of photos like the one I used, from the last years of the 1800's to the 1950's. Catch a glimpse of it if you like them, it's really worth it. Just, if you use any of those for your works, let her know, she'll be pleased. She makes them available at certain conditions so make sure to read them, understand them and respect them.
Most of those beautiful actresses are totally unknown to us today. It's fascinating to think about the lives behind those portraits and unsettling to think how time swallowed all that they and their lives were, leaving us with only a few images to try to recall. Where have gone their lives, their experiences, their very souls mad with all that they were, did and knew? I often wonder...

  2. Beautiful piece - even if it is an older piece.

You're right though: a photograph is only a glimpse of a person. Who they are is definitely still a mystery.

Brian: Thank you. Indeed a few pictures is all we have left of entire lives, isn't that eerie?

    Bellissimaaaaaa >____<

  5. That IS pretty creepy!

I guess the only other things we leave behind are our stories - whether that's from the memories of people we leave behind, or the ones we pass on to our children/family.

Very eerie stuff. Now my head is spinning! lol
